Below are a series of screen shots of how I got on;
You have the option to personalise the layout slightly by re -positioning or lengthening certain parts etc. This is the basic layout I went for, with all of my layers and transitions to the left, with the timeline taking priority for size, along with the preview display, as to me these are the two most important aspects that I like to see in as greater size as possible.
This print screen highlights the edits you can apply to each particular layer, or all of them at once. I began to learn a few keyboard shortcuts to speed up the process . Learning a few shortcuts also increases my confidence with the kit and encourages me to experiment and push on. A you can see above 'opacity' has been selected for each layer and this is done by pressing 'T' for 'transparency' .
Or in this case 'P' for 'Position'.
The following screen grabs are taking at interim stages as the development of the kinetic typography progressed;
As you can see here, the transition on the word 'are' is to begin small, this is set with a key frame, and then moving on around 3-5 frames usually you will insert another key frame which will be set at the desired size for the word.
In this grab, the transition of the word 'end' is an increased size and reduced capacity, that will grow in opacity as the word reaches is desired position.
As you can see here, the word 'animate' is gradually appearing from left to right. This is done by the use of a mask, which in this case, in basic terms is a black box that moves from left to right revealing the word 'animate' beneath it.
For the final word I decided to go against what the tutorial suggested and play around with a few animation presets that after effects have saved and on offer for use. I decided to use a text rotatory as it reminded me of something I would do when I was younger using Word art. Not the most professional or creative but it made me chuckle.
